Google Vertex AI
Google Cloud's platform for building, training, and running AI models, now being renamed Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
A cloud GPU platform for training and running machine learning models, billed by the second with no long-term contract, now owned by DigitalOcean.
Current-name note: Acquired — current parent recorded as DigitalOcean; current packaging requires quote confirmation.
Paperspace Gradient is a cloud platform where data scientists write and run code in cloud notebooks, train models on GPU instances such as NVIDIA H100s, and deploy a finished model behind an API endpoint, following a develop-train-deploy workflow. Notebooks come with pre-configured templates so a user does not set up a coding environment from scratch. Billing is per second rather than by the hour, with no long-term contract, and a limited free tier gives access to GPU notebooks at no cost. Paperspace originally built it; DigitalOcean now operates it after acquiring the company and states Paperspace's products remain active as they fold into its wider GPU and AI infrastructure lineup.
This fits a team that needs GPU compute for training or running models but does not want to manage its own hardware or commit to a long cloud contract. A low-risk starting point is the free GPU notebook tier for one real training job, to judge speed and cost before moving to paid per-second billing. DigitalOcean and Paperspace advertise savings of up to 70 percent versus larger cloud providers for comparable GPU instances, but actual savings depend on the workload, so check them against a real job. The main risks are the platform's smaller scale compared to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, which can mean fewer advanced enterprise features, and some uncertainty about long-term product direction following the acquisition.

Estimate assumptions: This scenario uses a category-based allowance, not a verified price for this product. Based on 1 production workspace. Confirm the vendor’s billing unit and current price or quote before budgeting.
Benefits have not been estimated: The current research does not estimate potential savings, return on investment, or how long it would take to recover the cost. Earlier benefit estimates are excluded.
Confirm current product identity, commercial packaging, data processing terms, sign-in and access rules, retention, integrations, support model, implementation effort, and rollback conditions.
Verify identity, package, availability, ownership, pricing, and security evidence before approving a pilot
Do not approve a pilot yet. Verify the current product identity, package, availability, owner, pricing, and security evidence; then define one workflow, a baseline, and rollback criteria.
Define what success looks like for a test of Paperspace Gradient and assign someone to lead it.
Once the requirements above are met, compare a small trial with how your team works today.
Track adoption, output quality, business results, and actual costs against the estimate.
Use the results to decide whether to stop, adjust, or expand the pilot.
Confirm encryption, how the vendor uses your data, customer data separation, how long data stays and how to delete it, activity records, sign-in and user setup, where data is handled, other companies that process data, past incidents, and what your team must manage.
Review before rollout: confirm how to export your data, revoke access, and return to your existing workflow. Assign an owner and test the rollback plan before expanding use.
