Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is a built-in feature of Splunk, a widely used platform for searching logs and monitoring IT and security data; Splunk is now part of Cisco. Analysts type a question in plain English, and the tool writes the matching Splunk search query, called SPL, and explains what it does. It also works the other way: it can read an existing search and explain it in plain language, which helps new analysts learn the syntax. A how-to mode answers questions about Splunk features using the product's own documentation. The assistant installs on top of Splunk Cloud Platform or Splunk Enterprise and works inside premium products like Splunk Enterprise Security, at no extra fee beyond the standard Splunk subscription.

This fits a company already running Splunk for logs, security, or IT monitoring, and helps most when junior analysts do not know SPL well yet. A good starting point is turning it on for one search head with a smaller analyst team first and watching how often people use it. It comes included with existing Splunk Cloud Platform or Splunk Enterprise subscriptions, so there is no separate line-item price to plan for; confirm with Splunk that your subscription tier includes it. One limit is that generated searches still need review, since a wrong SPL query can return misleading results. Splunk's base subscription remains a big cost on its own, and this AI feature does not lower your core Splunk spend.
