AlphaSense
A market research tool that searches company filings, broker research, and expert call transcripts fast, used by investment and strategy teams.
A research tool that quickly builds a visual map of academic papers linked to one you pick.
Connected Papers is a small research tool made by an independent team of the same name. A researcher enters one paper, and the tool draws a graph of similar work around it. It links papers using co-citation and bibliographic coupling, which measure how often papers are cited or reference each other together, and the graph highlights older prior work and newer papers that build on the same idea. It draws on the Semantic Scholar database, which covers hundreds of millions of papers across every field. Users can build a reading list, export citations, and start a new graph from any paper in the results.
This fits a researcher at one specific moment in a project: getting oriented in an unfamiliar field. A good starting point is the free plan, which allows 5 graphs a month. A single researcher who needs more should look at the Academic plan, at about 3 dollars a month for unlimited graphs; a team or department should check the Business plan, around 20 dollars a month, or ask about an Institutional deal. One limit is that Connected Papers only maps citation links and does not read or summarize what a paper argues. It also depends on Semantic Scholar's coverage, so a very new or niche paper may not show many connections yet. Pair it with a full-text tool once you have picked your key papers.

Estimate assumptions: Based on 20 enabled users. This is a planning allowance, not verified product pricing. Confirm the vendor’s billing unit and current price or quote before budgeting.
Benefits have not been estimated: The current research does not estimate potential savings, return on investment, or how long it would take to recover the cost. Earlier benefit estimates are excluded.
Confirm current product identity, commercial packaging, data processing terms, sign-in and access rules, retention, integrations, support model, implementation effort, and rollback conditions.
Verify identity, package, availability, ownership, pricing, and security evidence before approving a pilot
Do not approve a pilot yet. Verify the current product identity, package, availability, owner, pricing, and security evidence; then define one workflow, a baseline, and rollback criteria.
Define what success looks like for a test of Connected Papers and assign someone to lead it.
Once the requirements above are met, compare a small trial with how your team works today.
Track adoption, output quality, business results, and actual costs against the estimate.
Use the results to decide whether to stop, adjust, or expand the pilot.
Confirm encryption, how the vendor uses your data, customer data separation, how long data stays and how to delete it, activity records, sign-in and user setup, where data is handled, other companies that process data, past incidents, and what your team must manage.
Review before rollout: confirm how to export your data, revoke access, and return to your existing workflow. Assign an owner and test the rollback plan before expanding use.
